Psychotherapists: the professional group dealing with the healing of mental illness is called psychotherapists. They basically are medical doctors, psychologists and realated professional groups. According to the law for psychotherapists (1999) the practice of psychotherapy is exclusively for licensed psychotherapists. They have also passed a state examination. There are mainly two fields of specialzation: the deep psychologically oriented psychotherapy and learning psychotherapy. In addition to the adult sector, the legislator also provides for a specialisation in child and youth psychotherapy. Here, too, a licence to practise (in German: Approbation) is a prerequisite for practising the profession.
