TraumaAid Germany is a non-profit organisation founded in 2000. We provide professional traumatherapy training in crisis areas, and connect people and institutions worldwide with psycho-traumatology and EMDR. Our members include Trauma- and EMDR-therapists, psychologists and psycho-therapists, as well as medical doctors and other interested parties.
TraumaAid Germany is part of the worldwide network of humanitarian EMDR organisations and a member of TraumaAid Europe. Our projects are supported and implemented in cooperation with terre des hommes Germany (tdh), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), local relief organisations, the University of Worcester, UK and the EMDR-Institut Deutschland in Bergisch-Gladbach.
We are a small, non-bureaucratic, smart, professional and committed group of people, networked around the world, who develop trauma projects in countries where psychotherapy and trauma therapy are not yet or only insufficiently available.
We want to grow and achieve more, as the crises in the world are growing and only stable and healthy people can cope with them. We want to remain smart and professional, creative and non-bureaucratic but efficient.
Vision
Our vision is to be the most experienced professional organization in the trauma related training of frontline workers and psychotherapists, actively shaping the development of care networks.
Mission
To conduct specialized seminars in those countries and regions where …
… directly after a crisis situation mental health work is needed urgently …
… people and especially children are recently saved and their living conditions are stable enough to start focussing on their psychic needs …
To create an education for psychologists, social workers and similar professions that enables them …
… to help traumatized people of every age in the best possible way to overcome their experiences …
… to provide therapeutic support for traumatized children as early as possible to prevent future impacts…
We are working on building regional networks to care for traumatized people and their family members. In doing so, referral systems from primary care to specialized trauma therapy are to be developed.
Values
Responsibility towards those who suffer from Trauma
Confidentiality to our participants to care for an open atmosphere in our seminars
Collaboration with other mental health professionals
Cooperation within the Mental Health Pyramid with all mental health professionals
Respect towards cultural differences
Innovation regarding psychotherapeutic methods
TraumaAid Germany provides trauma projects in countries where psychotherapy and trauma therapy are not yet, or are only inadequately available. In these projects, training and therapeutic treatment are always closely linked and combined.
All of us live in a situation where the number of survivors of natural disasters, victims of human violence, war, torture and displacement, as well as the number of refugees has increased dramatically and continues to grow. TraumaAid Germany initiates and supports efforts to give psychologically affected people access to professional trauma therapy.
